Sono passati atraverso il panorama rock come una meteora e vi assicuro che ancora oggi nel circuito rock metal vengono considerati grandi e i loro dischi ricercati con cieco furore. Questa piccola premessa era secondo me dovuta per rendere l'idea di come in campo musicale sia labile il confine che delimita il succeso di una band in base alla loro proposta. Il mondo e pieno di talenti sottovalutati o peggio ancora ignorati e in campo musicale possiamo contare anche noi le nostra sconfitte. Si signori, questa dei Kick Axe e una nostra sconfitta perche se e pur vero che spesso l'industria discografica cerca d'impore il suo volere, e anche pur vero che dobbiamo cominciare ad essere coscienti del nostro valore e per questo essere sempre piu ascoltatori attivi e non passivi. Detto per inciso i dischi il compriamo noi!!! Ora passiamo al sodo e cerchiamo di non commettere ulteriori errori nei confronti dei Kick Axe. Come ben sappiamo il Canada e stato ed e ancor oggi terra ricca di talenti capaci di comporre melodie pompose e dal classico suono pop con venature hard. I Kici Axe all'epoca hanno saputo creare una miscela molto personale riuscendo nell'intento di sviluppare suoni prettamente metal adolciti con spruzzate di melodia assai sperimentale se paragonata al termine melodia anno 1984. Il risultato e 'Vices', disco maturo che, credetemi o no, vince l'usura del tempo, cosa non facile neppure per i top album! L'inizio e subito hard viscerale, ma gia on 'Vices' e la successiva 'Stay On Top' i Kick Axe mettono in luce tutta la loro particolarita nel saper creare hard vincenti e mai sdolcinate e come non cadere ai piedi della stupenda 'Dreamin' About You' avvolta da un finale coinvolgente? Al termine del primo lato si snoda 'Maneater' ricca di soluzioni sicuramente non in voga all'epoca ma che non tradisce la chiara matrice hard. Pure il secondo lato non tradisce le attese, e quindi sano rock quello che ci attende, ma sempre levigato con grande maestria e mai fine a se stesso. Personalmente non scarterei una sola song di questo lavoro e, a conferma di questo, vi segnalo 'Alive & Kicking' e la splendida 'Just Passin' through' degna chiusara di un album sicuramente da rivalutare. I Kick Axe fecero seguire a questo lavoro il'bellissimo 'Welcome to the Club' orientato maggiormente verso il mercato FM, ma nonostante questo il successo non arriva e il terzo lavoro 'Rock the World' ci mostra un gruppo in fase discendente. Peccato! Non dimenticateli, potreste pentirvene.

They went through the rock landscape as a meteor and I assure you that even today in the rock metal circuit are considered great and their records searched with blind fury. This small premise was in my opinion due to make the idea of how in the music is labile the boundary that defines the success of a band according to their proposal. The world is full of undervalued or worse yet ignored talents and in the musical field we can count our defeats too. Yes, gentlemen, this Kick Axe is our defeat because if it is true that often the record industry seeks to impose its will, and also true that we must begin to be aware of our value and for this to be more and more listeners active and non-passive. Incidentally, we buy the discs!!! Now let's get to the point and try not to make further mistakes on the Kick Axe. As we all know, Canada has been and still is a land full of talents able to compose pompous melodies and the classic pop sound with hard veins. The Kick Axe at that time have been able to create a very personal mixture succeeding in developing purely metal-like sounds with splashes of melody very experimental compared to the term melody year 1984. The result is 'Vices', mature record that, believe me or not, wins the wear of time, which is not easy even for the top albums! The beginning and immediately hard visceral, but already on 'Vices' and the next 'Stay On Top' the Kick Axe highlights all their particularity in knowing how to create hard winning and never saccharine and how not to fall at the feet of the wonderful 'Dreamin 'About You' shrouded in an addictive ending? At the end of the first side 'Maneater' unfolds rich in solutions certainly not in vogue at the time but that does not betray the clear hard matrix. Even the second side does not betray the expectations, and therefore healthy rock is what awaits us, but always honed with great skill and never an end to itself. Personally I would not discard a single song of this work and, as a confirmation of this, I would point out 'Alive & Kicking' and the wonderful 'Just Passin' Through' worthy closet of an album certainly to be reassessed. The Kick Axe followed this very beautiful 'Welcome to the Club' oriented towards the FM market, but despite this the success does not come and the third work 'Rock the World' shows us a group in descending phase. Sin! Do not forget them, you could regret it.
