KICK AXE werden auch mit dieser, ihrer dritten Scheibe in Deutschland keine Bäume ausreissen. Schon "Welcome to the Club" stiess hier auf Ablehnung, "Rock the World" ist noch ne Spur pompiger, party mässiger, aber auch wieder rockiger. Mich beeindrucken vor allen die Stimme George Criston's und die ansteckende Spielfreude der vier Californier, trotz der stellenweise zu durchsichtigen Strukturen und übertriebenen Komerzrefrains. In den Staaten stehen die Leute total drauf, ich gebe immerhin noch eine 73, denn in ihren Genre sind sie für mich erste Wahl, euch wird die Platte aber grösstenteils kalt lassen, oder?
With this, their third disc in Germany, KICK AXE won't uproot any trees. "Welcome to the Club" already met with rejection, "Rock the World" is a bit more pompous, party-like, but also rockier again. I am particularly impressed by the voice of George Criston and the infectious enthusiasm of the four Californians, despite the sometimes too transparent structures and exaggerated commercial choruses. In the States the people are really into it, I still give a 73, because in their genre they are my first choice, but the record will leave you indifferent for the most part, right?
