Das debutalbum des amerikanische band Kick Axe. Hinter der funfkopfigen band steht der gleiche mann, der auch Quiet Riot unter seinen fitlichen hat, namlich Spencer Proffer. Der vergleich liegt also nahe, aber Kick Axe raumen diesen gleich mit viel power weg. Klar, auch hier klingt vieles rund und typisch amerikanisch, aber der sound dieser band ist dosch viel gewalfiger, viel harter, mehr HM. "Heavy Metal Shuffle" ist gleich ein anfang, wo der titel schon alles sagt: es geht zur sache. Das titelstuck "Vices" ist sicherlich viel ruhiger, aber nicht schlecht, dafur gehts bei "Stay On Top" wieder harter zu. "Dreamin' About You" fangt mit einem schonen akustik-gitarrensolo an und diese ruhige stimmung halt auch das ganze stuck uber an. Das letzte stuck der a-seite, "Maneater", ist nochmal ein rokker, nur der gesang ist mir zu kommerziell, aber die gitarren klingen sehr gut. Die b-seite wird von "On the Road to Rock" eroffnet, einem mittelharten track, der sich gut als single eignen wurde. Auch "Cause for Alarm" ist sehr rockig, das gleiche gilt auch fur "Alive & Kickin'". Uberhaupt muss man sagen, dass die zweite seite wesentlich rockiger ist, denn auch "All the Right Moves" und "Just Passin' Through" gehen eindeutlig in diese richtung. Die erste seite floss etwas vor sich hin, aber dank einer sehr gutten zweite seite kann man sehr zufrieden sein mit "Vices". Ein gutes, solides debutwerk von Kick Axe, dem ich eine 7.5 gebe.
The debut album of the American band Kick Axe. Behind the five-piece band is the same man who also has Quiet Riot among his fit ones, namely Spencer Proffer. The comparison is so close, but Kick Axe clear away this with a lot of power. Sure, also here sounds a lot of round and typically American, but the sound of this band is much more powerful, much hard, more HM. "Heavy Metal Shuffle" is just a beginning, where the title says it all: it goes to the point. The title track "Vices" is certainly much quieter, but not bad, it goes back to "Stay On Top" again hard. "Dreamin 'About You" starts with a beautiful acoustic guitar solo and this quiet mood also stops the whole thing. The last piece of the a-side, "Maneater", is again a rocker, only the vocals are too commercial for me, but the guitars sound very good. The b-side is opened by "On the Road to Rock", a medium-hard track that was well suited as a single. Also "Cause for Alarm" is very rocking, the same goes for "Alive & Kickin'". Anyway, it has to be said that the second page is much more rocking, because "All the Right Moves" and "Just Passin' Through" are clearly in this direction. The first page flowed a little to yourself, but thanks to a very good second page you can be very satisfied with "Vices". A good, solid debut work by Kick Axe, which I give a 7.5.
