BIOGRAPHY

Stallion (Casablanca) is a band that has been touted as "the new sound of the West", and while the record has some pleasant moments, their brand of synthesised country-rock doesn't always work. Far from musical geldings, Stallion has a way to go before they attain "noble steed" status. The album, however, is a pleasant surprise from a label whose usual fare is Kiss, or Donna Summer.

SINGLE OF THE WEEK: "Old Fashioned Boy (You're The One)" by Stallion on Casablanca 877. This group, newcomers to the Casablanca fold, offers a top commercial entry, with harmonies reminiscent of Three Dog Night in spots. Voices blend beautifully in this well-produced record. Already picking up airplay on the West Coast. This is one to watch.
